The energy produced when pursuing a dream is infinite. It keeps me afloat.
I extended my stay so I could tool around L.A. Monday after the Palm Springs conference. Kissed my boys, then double checked that my ‘hey baby pants’ were packed and got on a plane to make my way out to California. The first leg took me to Chicago. During the flight I had a very interesting conversation with a fellow who had just returned from two weeks in Europe. He told me about a major anti-war demonstration he and his friends witnessed in Italy. He also said he was so surprised that it didn't receive any media coverage here in the US.
Reflection of the sun on the plane to California made a "sundog", a round rainbow that comes without rain. I thought of my friend Jo Ann who taught me what a sundog was just a couple of weeks ago and felt like this adventure would be one of the most wonderful things I've ever experienced.
I landed in LAX Friday afternoon, then proceeded to drive in a traffic jam on the "10" to Palm Springs. The weather was beautiful. The usual 90 minute ride took 4 hours…lesson learned: In Los Angeles traffic starts at 2 pm on Friday. I listened to Pacifica Radio during the drive time becoming enlightened about the anti-war demonstrations going on around the US and the world that aren't getting any US press. Things that make you go hmmmm. I love California, even the traffic had its benefits. I learned so much in those 4 hours.
Saturday night I enjoyed dinner with fellow sushi-lovers (avocado rolls for me): Traci "Keychain Diva" from Florida and Shawn "Tallest Jew" from Georgia. Shawn and I showcased that night, Traci's showcase would be Sunday.

In preparation for the conference...gratitude list: Thanks to Max and George, my two sons, for their constant cheering and support, to my husband Jeff for holding down the fort while I'm away, to my dear friend Stacey Rings for always being there when I need her, my art buddies, yoga pals, co-workers and friends who keep me laughing every day.
Thanks to the gigs: to Becky Sommer and the groovy Grove City Chamber of Commerce for hiring me to do stand-up for their Night on the Town, to the Funny Bone competitions, the other comics and to all the folks in the Funny Bone audiences the many nights who laughed for me, letting me know what worked and especially what didn’t. A very special thanks to those folks that came to see me the first night…whew!
Thanks for the encouraging words from the friends and coworkers who saw the demo tape (a 7 minute pu-pu platter of my work) before I left. The demo tapes were packed off to California in hopes that some of the agents might want to see more of my work.
